My Scooter.

I bought a 100cc scooter in Taiwan for NT$13,000. It’s really much more convenient now, going to school and out for dinner/supper. Haha. It’s quite a reasonable price, from what the other foreigners were quoted with. However, I do not know much about scooter and I’m hoping that the scooter will work well for us. I’m sharing the scooter with Vincent, but he’s still not used to the scooter yet. So i guess i will do the riding most of the time!

And do not worry about me. I’m riding the scooter at about 40km/h, so it’s perfectly safe! And i’m not road-hogging. There’s a lane specially for scooters on all the bigger roads so there’s no squeezing in between cars etc. Guess i’m quite alright with the bike, just that I still gotta get used to the roads here. Afterall, it’s all for the experience! :)

* In case you guys wanna rent a scooter without a license or buy a scooter without the Alien Resident Cert (ARC), just go approach the shops in Taiwan. There will be one which will close one eye to such things and allow you to rent/buy!! I’m speaking from experience!

Liou He Night Market.

Again, we went to Liou He Night Market as it is the closest night market to our school. Just to add a bit of pictures which I took over there. There’s the Dan Zai Noodles which we ate over there. Hmm, it’s kinda good, abit of Bak Chor and prawn mix and the soup is good. It’s a small bowl though for NT$40. Straight after, we went to the arcade – another of our favourite pastime. Look at the Mega Basketball shooting machine and you will know Taiwanese’s basketball craze. I have also added a picture of the famous arcade chain in Taiwan – Tom’s world. There are more games there and cheaper i think.

Today’s my gf’s birthday! Happy birthday Dearie. But she’s stuck in school, doing her proj! NUS sucks! haha.

Here I am stuck in my room. I haven’t been doing much again lately, except for attending classes on tue and wed. (hehe) And yes, wed was ladies night and the usual group of guys + me went to LAMP – a clubbing place. It was pretty alright drinking with the guys. A japanese friend of mine brought along his sister who came to Kaohsiung from Japan for a 5-days holiday. (She’s really a typical jap girl – polite, fair and KAWAII) The night at LAMP was not fruitless. HAHA. Hear this out!

The jap guy, Kuni, lost his key to the locker at LAMP and could not retrieve his things. So he got the staff to open for him at a fee of $5oo NT. Vincent and me helped to carry his and his sister’s stuffs. I was helping to carry a bag all the way back to my hostel. When we reached, I passed Kuni the bag. He was shocked. So am i. We did not know whose bag that was!! Upon much analysing and deduction, we came up with a conclusion – The dumb girls who picked up Kuni’s lost key, had left their own things in the same locker, with Kuni’s things still inside. (if it’s me, I will take away their things and spend another $2oNT to use another locker) So as we emptied the locker, we mistook that for ours and took it back. A search was conducted on the bag and we found a total $5000 NT in the 3 wallets. There was a handphone too. Being too honest or ethical, I called up the person the next day and returned the bag. I was rewarded with thanks and $200NT, which they die die I take, as a way of ridding of bad luck. I hope I can be rewarded more for doing such a good deed. Maybe win a lottery or something! hehe.

After returning the bag, on the way back, I met Ah Dan, Vincent’s exchange buddy. She was going to have a rehearsal for don’t-know-what event and she’s a lead singer in the band. I recorded the two songs which she sang but it’s really hard to post videos here in my blog. (Ok, I admit i’m just lazy) She’s really good! Haha.

Hey family and friends, i guess you don’t have to worry for me. I am enjoying my life and leading a much slower paced lifestyle in taiwan now. I’m having a five-days week, oops did i say school days week? That’s absolutely wrong!! I’m having a 5-days NON SCHOOL WEEK! Kaoz. Means I got nothing to do on 5days of a week! (NTU friends, READ THIS!) I’m going to enjoy life while i still can. Lessons are manageable since i’m taking one core and all other electives. Other than the core for which we gotta hand up a report soon, the electives are all damn relaxing. 1stly, there’s no final year exam for most. 2ndly, it’s only two hrs and the classes always start late but end on time! 3rdly, i think nothing much to do done for the electives. It’s a sure good way to clear my AUs here!

Eh, so far we have not been exploring much of the area in Kaohsiung. Basically, other than spending our time in school, we go walk around Xin Jue Jiang and club on wednesdays. Oh ya, i feel the food here in taiwan is different from singapore. I still prefer the local taste such as Bak Chor Mee, Laksa and Hainanese Chicken Rice. Plus I need chilli sauce!

How are you guys?

I haven’t been blogging for quite long. Eh, I haven’t been doing anything worth mentioning. Been staying in my room watching lots of movies. haha. Anyway today Vincent and me went to Xin Jue Jiang. It was quite a good place to go to – clothes, restaurants, movies, all the usual stuffs can be found there. I guess that’s the downtown of Kaohsiung and gives me a totally different view of Kaohsiung. It’s not a so bad place afterall. Of course, we went shopping for our stuffs and went to eat pasta at a Tomato restaurant. (Not too bad! comparing all the other pastas that i have eaten so far in Taiwan.)

Best of all, while taking a walk back, we walked past the Urban Spotlight. There was a outdoor cafe with live singing. They sang a few sentimental songs, coupled with the superb lightings, it is a must-go for couples. (I also began missing my gf! I will bring you there soon! hehe.) I Love Xin Jue Jiang!!

Hito award ceremony at Qi Jing.

It was really fortunate of us to be present at the Hito – a singing award ceremony held by the Taiwanese radio station. But sadly, we were standing quite far away and thus could not see the faces of the singers clearly. But still, it was a good experience hearing the singers singing live. We have Jolin, S.H.E, Wang Lee Hom, Show Luo Zhi Xiang, Stephanie Sun, Tank, Fang Da Tong, Yang Zong Wei and gang (Xin Guang Bang) and Xin Guang 2nd Bang. Anyway we heard Qi Jing is a good place for seafood and they sell plates of seafood for $100 TWD. We are going to try that some time later. I think my gf will like that. :)
